“Now is the time for each of us to arise and unfurl a banner to the world calling for a return to virtue.”
Sister Elaine Dalton, Young Women General President in the LDS Church has given a clarion call to all LDS Young Women and Women to Return to Virtue. She first spoke about this topic in October 2008 and has continued to challenge us. I have been so inspired by her vision.
Recently, I asked my three daughters to begin our Return to Virtue this year and complete the Virtue Value Goals in the Young Women Personal Progress Program. They agreed and I am so excited to work together completing this goal. Yes, we are all beyond our young women years, but we are never beyond being virtuous!
Sister Dalton recently gave a CES Fireside talk on September 13, 2009 at Brigham Young University.
I took the time to read it this past week and was so inspired by her words –
Or you can choose to listen to her talk on link below.
So here we go!
I will be posting about our Return to Virtue this year. I plan to post about the completion of our first goal next Monday. Please feel free to join us and add your comments. You can find the pamphlet on Virtue online at this link - Virtue
Goal #1 or Value Experience
1. Virtue is a pattern of thought and behavior based on
high moral standards. It includes chastity and purity.
The power to create mortal life is an exalted power
God has given His children. He has commanded that
this power be used only between a man and a
woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
Study the meaning and importance of chastity and
virtue by reading Moroni 9:9, Jacob 2:28, “The Family:
A Proclamation to the World,” and “Sexual Purity” in
For the Strength of Youth. Also read Article of Faith
number thirteen and Proverbs 31:10–31. In your journal,
write the promised blessings of being sexually
clean and pure and your commitment to be chaste.
